Building on the original intelliPACK design, the goal of Pearson Medical Technologies’ design team was to create a second generation bar code packager that incorporated the most outstanding qualities of our first generation packager into intelliPACK 2. We wanted the second generation packager to provide updated features which would further enchance the bar code packaging process.
The M:print software we developed to bar code and operate intelliPACK 2 has undergone several changes as well. We’ve kept it simple to use, however, we’ve added several features we think you’ll appreciate. Not only did we keep the NDC database, now you will have Tall Man Lettering, which is important when differentiating between similar drugs; Pill Images, another important factor in the identification of drugs; and clearTag Labels which enables you to put a bar code on something without impeding the manufacturer’s original label.
The intelliPACK 2 has been visually enhanced to include a more streamlined “self-contained” look, while integrating an improved packaging process. The packaging process has gone from a two-step process where packages were created, to a one-step packaging process where the packages are already created and are on a roll. Simply change out the roll when switching from one bag size (2” x 2”) to another bag size (5” x 12”).
We’ve also developed a new storage cart to house intelliPACK 2 and all the supplies need to bar code and package drugs. This is a complete workstation that can be rolled away when not in use.
